Periferiak 07 is a programme of projects developed around the idea of editing. As far as audio is concerned, editing emerges as the only possible working methodology. Copy your idols! is the second part of the symposium entitled under the same name, held from the 25th to the 30th of June 2007 in Bilbao. These meetings also aim to reflect on the concepts of appropriating, copying and manipulating sound, and to share the experience of international thinkers and creators who use these as creative tools in their work

Consultation
In parallel to the symposium, from the 3rd to the 6th of July non-stop from 8:00 to 20:00 h, a space will be fitted out in the exhibition hall at Arteleku for exhibiting and consulting audiovisual material on plagiarism and other copies. John Oswald. Canada. He is a multi-angular composer, improviser, visual artist and plunderphonist (a term he himself coined to define the sound pieces he makes based on manipulating samples of other people’s work). He is one of the most important figures in recent musical history. His work, based on complex collages and sound deconstructions, generally created from very popular songs and compositions, has not only been praised by the public and specialised critics, but also condemned and criticised by the recording industry, and accused of plagiarism and violating royalties. He has worked together, especially as a saxophonist and improviser, with numerous artists such as Cecil Taylor, Michael Snow or Fred Frith. [www.plunderphonics.com] [www.pfony.com]
Voluble. Seville. A sound-visual creative collective based in Seville made up of a team of communicologists and technologists producing audiovisual creative work, who specialise in producing sound-visual-action shows, sound installations, narr@tive, net.audio, laptop_music and audiovisual humour from the south. They form part of the first Mexican net.label música para espías. They are members of Zemos98, a cultural creation and production collective that produces the audiovisual festival of the same name, where they coordinate the sound section. eRIKm. France. He began his activities in 1992 guided by his interest in the visual arts, after his early experiences in music as a rock guitarist, and he is well known for his virtuosity at the turntable and the use of electronic instrument and tools in his working process. He has collaborated musically with Voice Crack, Christian Marclay or Luc Ferrari, which has made him one of the reference points in the international improvised music scene. He has currently put his role as a noise-DJ or vinyl sculptor on ice to a certain extent in order to focus on creating a bank of valid material for composing without using references to other works.
