Tresnak::Tools  { Introduction to programming by means of Processing
The Tresnak::Tools workshops are introductory sessions on how to approach the new technologies for their subsequent application in the creative and artistic arena.

Processing is a Java-based open code programming language and integrated development environment, which is easy to use, and initially created as visual software for programme outlines and rapid prototype, but it is ideal as a means for teaching and producing digital design interactive and multimedia projects. Processing was set up by Ben Fry and Casey Reas in 2001, as a response to the points raised by the MIT Media Lab Aesthetics Computation Group.

The course provides a practical introduction to this language, which can be used as a paradigm for learning other programming languages or other related disciplines, from the perspective of producing simple visual applications. It is also an entry point to other disciplines, such as interactive applications, generative art or multimedia installations.

Daniel Artamendi is a computer engineer and runs the Arteleku multimedia laboratory.
