Today, free improvisation has become even richer and more abstract due to the incorporation of new technological means or simply new preparation techniques of acoustic or amplified.
The purpose of this workshop is to introduce participants to some of these techniques, either through a musical instrument, whether through objects.
Alfredo Costa Monteiro (Porto, 1964) Lives and works in Barcelona, Spain, since 1992. He studied sculpture/multimedia at the fine art school in Paris with Christian Boltanski. In 1992, he moved to Barcelona. Since then, his work stands somewhere between visual arts, visual poetry and sound. His installations and sound pieces, all of a low-fi character, have in common an interest for unstable processes, where the manipulation of objects as instruments or instruments as objects has a strong phenomenological aspect.
He has participated in several exhibitions, both individual and collective. Since 2001 he colaborates with musicians, coreographers, dancers and videoartists. He has an extensive discography on labels such as Antifrost, Rossbin, Absurd, Étude records, Monotype records, Another timbre, Creative sources, either alone or with several formations.
