Biographies

Paris. A writer, poet and translator, from 1957 to 1965 together with Cornélius Castoriadis, Claude Lefort, Jean-François Lyotard and others, he took part in the activities of the collective grouped around the journal Socialisme ou Barbarie (Paris). In 1959 he became friends and collaborated with Guy Debord, with whom he wrote Préliminaires à la définition de l’unité du programme révolutionnaire. In the early 1970s he lived in the USA and took part in the countercultural movement. His publications include: Idéal portrait (1984), Halte sur la rive orientale du lac Champlain, Vermont (1990), Fugitif (1994), Ici (2001), Vide-poches (2003), and he has recently published the book of poems, Battant, dormant. He has also published work in the magazines, L’Ephémère, lN.N.R.F. Revue de Belles-Lettres, Cahiers d’Arte, Recueil, Nouveau Recueil, Poésie 95, and L’Atelier Contemporain.
Madrid. Essayist, researcher and editor, he published Filosofía y acción (Editorial Límite, Santander) in 1999. He co-runs the magazine Archipiélago and the publishing company Acuarela where he explores the possible leanings of a critically incorrect discourse. He regularly collaborates in the cultural supplement of the newspaper El País, the newspaper Diagonal and the journal El Viejo Topo. He takes part in social movements in Madrid. He has written the preface for the book by Castoriadis, La exigencia revolucionaria, (Acualera, Madrid, 2000) that includes texts on political philosophy written during the 1970s. He takes part in that rather vague political space formed by social movements in Madrid. His general concerns consist of thinking, on the basis of collective practices and specific experiences, about a series of basic political problems whose common sphere is what it means today to be faithful to a project based on individual and collective autonomy.
Buenos Aires. A psychologist, psychoanalyst, institutional analyst and lecturer at Buenos Aires University, Argentina. She is the author of El Campo Grupal: Notas para una Genealogía (Ed. Nueva Visión, Buenos Aires, 1989); La Mujer de la Ilusión (Ed. Paidós, Buenos Aires, 1993); and La invención de la Niña (UNICEF, Buenos Aires, 1994). In collaboration with other authors in 1999 she published Instituciones Estalladas (Ed. Eudeba, Buenos Aires). She has just published Las lógicas colectivas de la multiplicidad (Ed. Biblos, Buenos Aires, 2006); as well as Política y subjetividad: asambleas barriales y fábricas recuperadas (Ed. Tinta Limón, Colectivo Situaciones). She currently runs the research projects “Política y Subjetividad: estrategias colectivas frente a la vulnerabilización social” in the Department of Science and Technique at Buenos Aires University.
Donostia-San Sebastián. A lecturer in aesthetics and art theory at the University of the Basque Country, he has researched and written about the Basque artistic avant-gardes, and on creación contemporary creative activity and its networks. He has also written several monographs on contemporary artists and has curated various exhibitions, including: Encrucijadas mediterráneas I Viajes y errares, (Valencia, 2000); Sagrado - Profano. Vicente Ameztoy (KM Cultural Centre and Arteleku, Donostia, 2000); Constelación Gaur (Caja Vital Kutxa Foundation, Vitoria-Gasteiz, 2004); Disidencias otras (KM Cultural Centre, Donostia, 2004); Grupo Orain / 5+1 (Caja Vital Kutxa Foundation,Vitoria-Gasteiz, 2005). He has published articles on art in Hika, Periódico del arte, Sublime, Exitbook, Ondare, biTARTE and other publications. He is preparing the essay Dissidence and creation on Castoriadis.
Bilbao. A philosopher and Doctor of Sociology (Public University of Navarre), he studied at the New School For Social Research (New York) and at German universities in Frankfurt (Goethe University) and Bielefeld. He has published the books, Imaginación y sociedad (Tecnos, Madrid, 1999) and Las máscaras del dinero (Anthropos, Barcelona, 2004). He has also taken part in the Diccionario de Hermenéutica (P. Lanceros & A. Ortiz-Osés published by Univ. Deusto, Bilbao, 1996) with the word, “Imaginary” and in Claves de Hermenéutica (P. Lanceros & A. Ortiz-Osés, published by Univ. Deusto, Bilbao, 2005) with the word, “Culture”. He has coordinated the monograph Cornelius Castoriadis. La pluralidad de los imaginarios sociales en la modernidad (Anthropos, nº 198, 2003). His scientific interest has focused on the imaginary creativity of the human condition in artistic, social and religious spheres.
