Annie Mahtani is a composer and sound artist based in Birmingham, UK. Her music is created from realworld sounds which are then transformed, manipulated and restructured. She has completed her MPhil and PhD at the University of Birmingham. With a view to leaving room for collaboration with other artists, she has also worked with dance and theatre, exploring the relationship between sound and movement.
Els Viaene began her career in documentary-making for Belgian national radio. Since then, the realistic treatment of sound of her early work has evolved into more abstract environments, using musicality and the natural rhythm of ambient and electronic sound, which she develops using the principles of collage. Working on these sound materials for performances but also for video art and architectural installations, Els and her music invite listeners to travel towards imaginary naturalistic and organic environments.
